Nearly 250 Years of Welcome
Six generations. One village inn.
The Stanford family opened this stone inn on Main Street in Dromahair in 1780. What started as a working mill became a pub, then a tearooms, then a place where half the village comes on a Friday night and tourists pull over because the building just looks right.
Six generations later, Laura runs the place. The slate floors are original. The stone walls have been here longer than the State. There are log fires in winter, traditional music most weekends, and a ploughman's lunch that people drive from Sligo for. Fodor's put Stanford's in their travel guide. Reviewers have called it "the best pint in all of Ireland." But the locals already knew that.
This is the kind of pub you find once and remember. Stone walls, a proper fire, food made from local ingredients, and a welcome that comes from nearly 250 years of practice. Pull up a stool. The Stanfords have been expecting you.
Come in, sit down, the fire's on.
